Hi Though I would pop a little bit of info on here about me and my amazing little man Oakley. He arrived at our farm when he was just a few months old with his mother. Neither had been handled and weren't in the best way. After managing to wean him away from his mother- our life together got underway! I must admit we had trouble identifying what species he was never mind breed- to say he was an ugly duckling was an understatement! He then blossomed in to the cutest thing Iv ever seen!
He is now 6 and I'm so so proud of the wonderful little boy he is. We have recently just been placed overall 3rd in the season of Dressage at our local riding club. Its only at Intro level but its still a huge achievement. Whilst training him at 3 years old- he threw me off and I smashed up my ankle- I was in plaster and I couldn't ride for 6 months and I then had to have another 18months off through illness. My sister and my friend carried on with his training- whilst I still did a lot of ground work when I was well enough. He has got me through some really tough times. I lost my father in an accident ( it was my dad who decided to bring him home that day- so Oakley has emotional ties to him), I went through a messy divorce and faced illness-but he was still my shining light. My love for him and to see him develop gave me something to focus on....I would be lost without him.
I know 100% he will spend the rest of his life with me, at out farm/livery yard. When ever I'm sad or upset he cant fail to make me smile and If I had a penny for every time someone told me how handsome he is I would be super rich. The dressage judge last week commented on my sheet she wanted to take him home with her!
So thats how my love for Exmoors came about, due to my wonderful Captain Oakley!
