Hey, exmoorpony enthousiasts.
I am new on this forum and also new with the exmoor breed.
We live in Holland so my english is not always without mistakes, sorry about that.
I'm 49 years old and we have 3 horses at home, 2 islandics and since may this year an exmoor pony, Teddy. He is really a gift from heaven!
When my islandic mare died in Februari, I told myself that I would not buy an other horse again, I had so much bad luck with my islandic horses.
But than somebody advertised that she had an orfaned exmoor yearling for sale. We wrote some emails to eachother and my daughter and I went to see the little brown pony.
Well, it was love at first sight! He was still a stallion and behavied like that aswell. First thing
he did was biting my arm...
We had never seen an exmoor pony before and I decided to go home and do some resurch about the breed.
We could not find so much info about exmoor ponies, in Holland there are not much around and the few there are, are not ridden (yet). Some small groups live in conservation area's were the public can not go.
Acctually it didn't matter anymore. In my head I had already given him a name, Teddy.
Meaning gift of the gods and I named him after my old horse Beer (meaning teddybear).
Teddy lifes with us for half a year now. We make long walks together, I show him the world and he is never scared of anything. He has so much calm trust in what we do together.
I'm sure he will be a great ride when he is ready for it.
Ellis
