I am sure this is obvious but I am technologically inept. How do I do the linking a comment to an earlier comment thing?

do you mean show someone else's comment in your own post? To do that you need to click the  button on the top right of the post you want to comment on. Then type underneath the existing text in the reply box that then appears. |
